DeepSeek AI made history at the Math Olympiad

Ana sayfa / News

Chinese technology company DeepSeek has surprised the world with its new model. The DeepSeek AI model, introduced by the company, has reached a level that could win a gold medal in one of the world’s most challenging mathematics exams.

The newly developed DeepSeekMath-V2 outperforms its competitors with its ability to solve complex problems. The model successfully solved five out of six problems in the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). It also broke the record by scoring 118 out of 120 in the prestigious Putnam Competition. This score surpassed even the highest human score ever achieved.

This success puts the Chinese startup in direct competition with US tech giants. DeepSeek offers a powerful alternative to OpenAI’s o1 and Google’s Gemini models. Furthermore, the company is offering this powerful technology as open source, allowing developers to access it freely on GitHub.

The system’s success is driven by an innovative technique called “self-verification.” The model not only finds the answer but also monitors the solution process step by step. A validator module checks the generated logic and instantly corrects any potential errors. This ensures high accuracy even for the most challenging theorems.
